Our Story
More than a hundred years at the table
The Heritage House has been part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1911. The building has changed. The welcome never has.
A boarding house opens
The Heritage House began its life as a boarding house, a place for travelers and working folks to find a bed and a hot meal.
The Adams family arrives
Tom and Leola Adams bought the house and brought it to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Over the years under their care it served as a boarding house, a restaurant, and a general store, the heart of the community.
The buffet is born
After the passing of Leola and Tom, Robert and Shirley Patrick took over and turned the house into a Southern buffet. Word spread, and families came from all along the coast.
Kathy Baker takes the reins
Kathy Baker bought the restaurant and carried on the tradition of honest, scratch-made Southern cooking that people had come to count on.
Katrina, and a comeback
Hurricane Katrina destroyed the original Heritage House. Rather than let the story end, Kathy rebuilt on Highway 90, same recipes, same friendly faces, in a new home.
Still setting the table
The Heritage House continues its legacy with the help of Kathy's family and friends, serving the same delicious Southern cooking that has fed Moss Point for generations.
The same delicious Southern cooking, the same friendly faces.
The Family
The faces behind the buffet
The Heritage House runs on family and friends who treat every guest like one of their own.
